Best time for photographs?

Spring / September to November
Early mornings (8am-10am) on sunny spring days are dewy and full of blossom.

Summer / December to February
The highly popular 'golden hour' usually falls between 6-8pm.

Autumn / March to May
The days get shorter, but the flowers are still blooming, and the sky turns vivid and intense colours in the evenings around 6-7pm

Winter / June to August
It's cool with low light and the dam, jetty, surrounding gardens and pastures are billowing with late autumn grass seed heads (10am-3pm). No flowers

Cost: $150 p/hr - exclusive use of venue

Each booking grants ONE photographer use of the fields for their one-hour block. If photographers go over their time block they will be charged $75 every 20 minutes.

Terms & Conditions

We are fortunate to be able to earn a living from the plants on the farm. We have spent 10s of thousands of hours shaping this property into what it is today and it is important to maintain its integrity. We spend the entire year working for just 4 or 5 weeks of blooms. If damage is done to our plants, it hurts our ability to continue to farm.

By booking a photography session, you agree to the terms as described below:

Sessions are Friday only, other days may be available.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking date.
Final payment is due before leaving the property after shoot is finished and full booking time is known.

There is no bathroom available on site, but there is no running water. It is recommended that guests prepare for their shoot before arriving to the farm. It is also recommended that guests are able to walk at least 500 m while at the farm as some of the best locations for photos are around 500 m from the parking area.

No other events are scheduled during these evenings, so you will have plenty of space for you to shoot. You are welcome to arrive early to start scouting locations, but shooting is only allowed during your time slot.

Due to the seasonality of flowers, we cannot guarantee the exact flower varieties that will be in bloom at the time of your appointment. The prime season for our annual field should be late February - April. Prime season for dahlias should be March.

There are no refunds for missed appointments. Refunds and reschedules for bad weather are at the discretion of The Paddock Lal Lal.

Farm Safety

Our primary concern is for the safety of our guests at the farm. Keeping that in mind, if you want to schedule a session you need to be aware of the following:

While we keep the field as free from hazards as possible, it is important to realize that this is a working farm - not a manicured garden. Guests need to be aware that there may be things like uneven ground, rocks, sticks, poison ivy, posts (for supporting dahlias), or other hazards to be mindful of. It is recommended guests wear close toed shoes.

Farm Rules

Guests are not allowed to cut or remove flowers from plants in the field. If anyone is doing damage to the plants on the farm, they and their photographer will be asked to leave immediately. It is the photographer’s responsibility to make sure this is clear to all their clients on the farm and assure they are following this rule. If flowers are wanted for part of the shoot (for example and armload of flowers), it can be arranged for an extra fee by contacting thepaddocklallal@outlook.com.

Guests are responsible to remove all garage or items they bring onto the farm such as food, wrappers, bottles, etc.
Guests and photographers are expected to be respectful of other guest's time and space on the farm. There is lots of space available for everyone.
